The City of Broadview Heights is seeking a Clerk of Council to provide administrative support to City Council and the Mayor's office.
This position is responsible for maintaining accurate and complete records of all Council proceedings, maintaining custody and properly indexing and filing and publishing all ordinances and resolutions of Council.
*Duties and Responsibilities* · Schedules and provides public notice of Council and Committee meetings, including updating City website as needed.
· Ensures that notices, agendas and packets for City Council meetings are prepared and distributed, including uploading documents on City website.
· Attends evening City Council meetings, and prepares complete, accurate and timely minutes of Council meetings; ensures that all proceedings of Council are recorded, published and retained appropriately.
· Ensures that all notices, ordinances, resolutions, and other documents are posted, recorded, published, archived and filed in conformance with existing state and municipal laws, practices, policies and procedures.
· Prepares and publishes required legal ads.
· Assists in preparation of Charter amendments, ballot issues and language, and certifies to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.
· Assists the public and City staff by researching and providing specific and/or general information regarding agenda items and/or interpretation of policies, procedures, precedents, and rules.
· Processes liquor permit requests with the Ohio Department of Liquor Control.
· Provides administrative support to City Council and coordinates with the Mayor’s office regarding administrative matters.
· Assists other departments as needed, including acting as back-up in answering incoming telephone calls, taking messages and/or directing calls as required.
· Assists with planning and participating in City special events, including but not limited to Home Days, concerts, and parades.
· Performs related duties as assigned.
*Qualifications* * High school diploma or equivalent.
* Minimum 3 years’ closely related experience required.
* Familiarity with legislation and Notary Public license preferred.
* Ability to attend evening meetings.
* Ability to accurately take, and transcribe and produce minutes of all assigned meetings.
* Knowledge of or ability to learn to interpret, analyze and implement a variety of current laws, ordinances, regulations, policies and procedures.
* Strong written and verbal skills and attention to detail.
* Demonstrated knowledge and ability to use technology and computer applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel and Outlook and recording software.
* Ability to exercise discretion and diplomacy.
* Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups while encouraging and supporting information sharing and collaboration between departments.
* Knowledge of or ability to learn the function, operations and scope of authority of all City departments and of the functions, policies and procedures of City Council.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $41,475.
00 - $62,199.
