*Progress with Chess, *Ohio’s largest chess teaching organization, is seeking additional chess instructors for _in person_ chess instruction to start immediately or in the Fall of 2023.
We are a non-profit organization that provides chess programs in over 50 schools and recreation centers in greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions to students in various subjects, including math, science, English, and social studies.
- Develop personalized lesson plans based on the individual needs and learning styles of each student.
- Assist students with homework assignments and test preparation.
- Utilize effective teaching strategies to engage students and promote a positive learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to parents or guardians.
- Implement behavior management techniques to ensure a productive and focused tutoring session.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to support the academic success of students.
- Stay updated on current educational practices and resources.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with students in a tutoring, teaching, or mentoring capacity.
- Knowledge of various teaching methods and strategies for different learning styles.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students.
- Ability to adapt lessons to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Familiarity with childhood development principles and early childhood education techniques.
- Experience in sports coaching, theater, or other extracurricular activities is a plus.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques is beneficial.
- Understanding of Christian counseling principles is desirable.
