The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) located in Cleveland, Ohio, is searching for a Dispatcher to join its Paratransit Department.
Reporting to the Paratransit District Director and/or Transportation Manager, the Dispatcher will be part of a team that schedules and dispatches Paratransit Bus Operators.
Detailed Description Duties: Works under the general supervision of the District Director and/or the Transportation Manager.
Schedules and Dispatches Paratransit Bus Operators to appropriate run or routes.
Answers radio and directs on street operations of Paratransit service including work of Paratransit contracted service providers.
Answers telephone assisting operators and the general public with information regarding service (e.
g.
routing, accidents, schedule information, passenger and operator requests).
Monitors daily schedule in HASTUS BID Dispatch, Trapeze Pass and Siemens radio systems.
Inputs and/or obtains relevant information from the dispatch systems to insure assignment of and proper payment of work performed by operators.
Posts and distributes route assignments.
Adjusts Operator schedules as necessary when runs/trips are missed.
Completes daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
Provides customer service to the public in person as well as via telephone.
Assumes primary responsibility of district in absence of higher classified management personnel.
Completes the Supervisor’s Report of Occupational Injury/Illness form as required, and documents the same via the injury report line.
This position will promote a safe and secure atmosphere, follow all safety and security rules and perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements Minimum Requirements: Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent education.
Applicants must have three (3) years of verifiable experience scheduling bus services for Older Adults and People with Disabilities OR three (3) years of experience transporting Older Adults and People with Disabilities around the greater Cleveland area.
In addition, the position will require organizational skills and the ability to perform multiple tasks within a limited timeframe.
Applicants must have good communication skills.
Applicants must have a working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Experience with database programs is a plus.
Successful applicants will be required to satisfactorily complete the prescribed training program before receiving an appointment.
Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Examination Information: Candidates selected to participate in the hiring process will be notified of the exact time and place of the examination.
The examination process will consist of three parts: a written examination, performance assessment and/or interview, and record evaluation (for internal candidates only).
Candidates must attain a minimum of 70% on all parts of the process, except 60% on the interview portion, to move forward in the process.

All candidates must score a minimum composite score of 70% in order to establish eligibility for the portion.
Internal candidates must meet all record evaluation criteria in order to gain the 15% weighting.
Records evaluation information includes a review of the following: · 5 or more absence occurrences · 2 or more AWOL or absence control suspensions · 3 or more active written reminders (regardless of the level) · 5 or more misses (regardless of whether they are active or not active) · 4 or more active tardies · Drug or alcohol suspension · Commercial Drivers License (CDL) suspension · Active Decision Making Leave (DML) Any internal candidate to who is at or above the thresholds listed above will not receive the points for their Eligibility Certification.
