Front Desk Officer serves as central contact for the organization, answering incoming phone calls and emails as well as greeting in-person students, volunteers, and visitors.
This individual is also responsible for the intake of visitor and student data necessary at check-in.
The Front Desk Officer acts as reception receiving and directing visitors, vendors, clients, and students to appropriate locations and parties.

Since 1997, Seeds of Literacy (Seeds) has provided personalized education that empowers adults to thrive in our community.
Our innovative, non-traditional classroom relies on individualized curricula, one-to-one tutoring, and flexible scheduling to help students who did not succeed in traditional school settings.
We offer one-to-one tutoring in basic education and GED preparation to more than 1,500 adult students every year.
Our instruction model includes nearly 300 highly-trained volunteer tutors who work one-to-one with students in our physical classrooms and online in our Virtual Classroom.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities*
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Serves as the first point of contact for all visitors, directing them to classrooms and alerting necessary staff of their arrival.
· Answering, assisting, and directing all incoming telephone calls and emails to appropriate parties in a professional and courteous manner.
· Assist Student Engagement Coordinators with transitioning incoming students from Orientation to beginning classes.
· Perform related clerical work such as typing, filing, and sorting mail distribution.
· Uses applicable software programs to create inventories, letters, and other business-related documents.
· Provides basic technical support and guidance to students through phone calls and in-person for registration purposes.
· Conduct timely and accurate data entry into various databases (LACES, Excel, Google Sheets) based on the needs of the internal administration teams.
Completes student-related data entry that supports programming.
· Ensuring rooms are organized and tidy.
Prepare each day with basic supplies, program materials, and documenting inventory as needed.
· Assisting with the preparation of materials for outreach events as needed.
· Following up on student referrals from outreach events following the event, making phone calls and emails.
· Receives and tracks donations from walk-in donors, providing donors with needed forms and receipts.
· Participating in the planning and execution of special events or department-specific projects and seasonal program changes as required.
· Assist in the onboarding of new employees to the Front Desk Officer team.
· All other duties as assigned based on need.
*Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)*
* High school Diploma/GED required; Associates Degree preferred
* Proficient in Google Suite platforms, including email, calendars, and worksheets
* Attention to detail while maintaining several data entry formats
* Demonstrate interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of the organization, volunteers, and students professionally.
* Excellent oral, and written communication skills.
*Bilingual in English and Spanish are required.

Able to work independently, but must be willing to work on teams for special projects or events.
